Today the FCC stayed a new rule scheduled to take effect on April 11, 2025 that would have required callers/texters to apply a STOP or END (or similar) instruction from a consumer in response to a text message to all future calls/texts using regulated (automated) technology or pre-recorded calls. Companies across all industries were struggling to implement (and even decipher!) this new ruling ahead of the April 11 compliance deadline. We can now all breathe a sigh of relief, at least until next April!
The FCC noted "We find that good cause exists to justify a limited waiver of the effective date of section 64.1200(a)(10) of the Commission's rules to the extent that it requires callers to apply a request to revoke consent made in response to one type of message to all future robocalls and robotexts from that caller on unrelated matters. For the reasons discussed herein, we delay the effective date of any such requirement until April 11, 2026." Para 8. See Stay Order below.
