Lara Kehoe Hoffman is special counsel to the firm. Lara's practice focuses on strategic counseling on a range of intellectual property and entertainment law issues including promotions and advertising, publicity rights, trademark clearance and prosecution, copyright prosecution, licensing and other business transactions, as well as protecting clients' rights in these areas.
Lara has worked for clients from major international corporations to startups to local businesses who work in areas from communications, networking and gaming hardware and software to online trading services to consumer products like tea and children's toys. She has extensive experience with Internet-related issues, leveraging intellectual property assets and product packaging and advertising review. In addition to IP counseling, Lara enjoys working on all manner of projects, such as spokesperson agreements, publicity releases and endorsements, domain name disputes, and IP enforcement issues.
Prior to joining Cobalt LLP, Lara worked with Fulbright & Jaworski LLP in Los Angeles and Cooley Godward LLP in Palo Alto and San Francisco. She has also taught contract writing and trademark prosecution at Hastings College of the Law and served as the Assistant Director, Employer Relations for the Honors Lawyering Program at Golden Gate University School of Law.
Professional organizations to which Lara belongs include the International Trademark Association (INTA), the Intellectual Property Section of the California State Bar, and the San Francisco Bar Association. She has presented on trademark and promotions issues at ALI-ABA and PLI legal conferences.
Lara holds a BA in Comparative Literature from Yale College, after which she earned her JD from the University of San Diego School of Law where she was a member of the San Diego Law Review, received numerous awards for writing and oral advocacy in a variety of Moot Court competitions, and was elected to the Order of the Coif. When she isn't practicing law, Lara can be found performing stand up comedy and playing Ultimate Frisbee throughout the Bay Area. If she starts using phrases like Òsick layout D,Ó that's why.
