Douglas A. Rothschild

Douglas A. Rothschild was born in New York City and raised in Burlingame, CA.

Doug received his J.D. degree from Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles. He attended the University of Southern California, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a Minor in Business Administration.

Doug's practice focuses on trademark prosecution and promotions law. Doug assists clients in drafting sweepstakes rules and works with clients to secure trademark registrations in the United States and internationally. Doug also practices before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, having a strong background in litigation. Prior to, and during law school, Doug worked in the entertainment/media field. His experience includes promotions and street marketing for the former Pirate Radio, KQLZ-FM, Los Angeles; Retail Marketing for hip-hop label Priority Records; and Business Affairs at New Line Cinema.

Prior to joining Cobalt, Doug was an associate with Santa Monica's Paul & Janofsky law firm. As a litigator, Doug represented injured plaintiffs in products liability, medical malpractice, and general negligence matters. After his association with the Paul & Janofsky firm, Doug spent more than a year with the Los Angeles firm Michael A. K. Dan, APC, where he represented plaintiffs injured due to medical negligence. Doug was also a member of Berkeley's Paul, Hanley & Harley law firm where he focused his trial practice on complex injury cases involving occupational asbestos exposure, and tobacco-related diseases. Most recently, Doug was co-trial counsel in a wrongful death case against Philip Morris USA and R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, resulting in a $2.8 million verdict for the plaintiffs.

Mr. Rothschild is a member of the State Bar of California and the Central and Northern Districts of the U.S. District Court. His professional affiliations include: Association of Trial Lawyers of America, Consumer Attorneys of California, and Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles. He recently bought his first cast iron skillet.
